Yoda

“Yoda, you seek Yoda!”  *Theme of the Force starts playing*

Sorry, I had to start with a Yoda quote/flourish.  They’re all pretty memorable and well, it’s Yoda.  Needless to say Beau was very excited when I started working on him.  Especially when I told him Yoda would be close to “life” size.  I finished him much more quickly than expected, and have already had quite a bit of fun with him.  He’s very poseable (his eyelids move to give expression, as does his mouth, and his arms and legs are pretty bendable as well.  It’s funny to think that three years ago I didn’t even care to see Star Wars and now I’m making amigurumis of it (which I also couldn’t have done three years ago).  I think Beau feels a little bad for turning me to the nerd side of the force, but its hard to complain with the results.

I hope you like this pattern as much as both Beau and I do.

    1. Thank you 🙂

  2. This is a very nice pattern, but i cannot find a body-part. Could you please help me, because i REALLY want to crochet my own Yoda.
    Greetings from Germany

    Christine

    1. The body part is now on there, I somehow forgot to put it on there. (silly me) It should be fixed now! 🙂

      1. Thank you very very much for your quick answer and correction!!!
May the force be with you.

  3. hi thanks for the fun pattern of yoda….what does ‘mr’ represent in your pattern ?

    1. MR means magic ring…it’s a different way of making a circle. A quick google search will give you a tutorial on it. I’m glad you like yoda. 🙂

  4. I DEFINITELY want to see your video. My grandson wants a Star Wars birthday in April so now I know what I’ll be working on – THANK YOU! For Christmas this year I made the two boys and their dad (another BIG Star Wars fan) R2D2 beanie hats. I applaud your awesome work.

  5. This is fantastic! Thank you!

  6. Mio papà adora Star Wars, gliene farò uno al più presto….
    Sei bravissima!!…
Grazie per averlo condiviso e creato….

  7. So wonderful this is! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist) My son loves Yoda and I have been looking for something to make for his birthday coming up! Thank you so much for this pattern. I can’t wait to start! He will love it!

  8. I finished your Yoda and he is fantastic! My husband even made him a cane. He’s on our mantel now. The eyes are amazing – the best eyes I’ve ever seen in any pattern and the head detail video was invaluable. Thanks for a great pattern.

    1. Oh, I would love to see pictures. My fiance’s dad also made him a cane out of wood. What would we do with out these men. I’m glad you like him.

  9. Thank you for share your great job

  10. I loved your items so much I shared your site on my facebook page. I hope that was okay. I just love finding creative crochet items. Yours are very creative. Thanks for sharing all your patterns.

    1. Of course it’s okay. Thanks for the compliment. I am busy with school and would really like to get a few more patterns out.

  11. Here’s a few photos of the Yoda I made from your pattern:
    http://photobucket.com/Yodadoll

It was the most fun I’ve had doing a project in a while. Your details really make a difference.

    1. I love it! It looks so good!

  12. Any change for a PDF version?

    1. I think that’s a good idea, I have been thinking of doing that for awhile. It would just take me awhile, to get them all transferred over, because I’m moving into the end of my college career, and there is a lot of work to be done. But soon! Thanks for the reminder tho 🙂

  13. […] (on youtube, too!). Also, just look at how much Star Wars Amigurumi you can buy on Etsy! This free Yoda Amigurumi pattern is pretty awesome, […]

  14. I would love to see a video or get a description on how to put the jacket together. I am having issues. Thank you

  15. Have used most of this pattern a couple of times now. First turned out about 16 inches tall second was 6 inches. So thank you.

  16. I’ve only been crocheting for about two months and have taken on this doll! So far, so good. My question is on the leg/foot. What end do you attach to the body? I can’t really tell by any of the pictures. Thanks!

    1. Oh wow, you’re brave. I never would have done this pattern when I first started. Now to answer your question, the f/o side of the leg is attached to the body. and the big hole of the foot is attached around the leg where you began your magic circle. I hope that helps, and can’t wait to see it 🙂

      1. I love a challenge! Thank goodness for your video on the face, otherwise I would have been totally lost! I finished him on my own. Which made sense once I had the foot done. Here’s some pictures of him.

  18. Hey Shelley, absolutely love your yoda! I’ve only been crocheting for about 2 weeks now, made me a pac-man set, a teddy for my sister, recently finished a Snorlax and am now working on a fish for my stepdad, but my boyfriend adores your Yoda and I just have to make it for him! I’m scared to mess it up, but I’m gonna try! I saw the video and it was so so helpful, only thing I was wondering, how did you (or Beau) attach his hair to the doll? With some gluedots or? And thanks for this pattern, wish me luck 😀

    1. 2 weeks! Wow you’ve been busy. Good luck on upcoming projects.
The hair is not really attached, it’s just pretty much laying on his head. No one plays with him, he just sits on my shelf so I didn’t want to mess up his hair by adding something that might make it look a little weird.

      1. Thanks Shelly, I just added the hair on top as well, I tried with a few tiny gluedots, but it hardly stuck. Currently working on the pants and the toes and hoping that maybe I can sew those onto the body tonight and then continue on to the jacket 🙂
Hope you’ll create more because I love how detailed your plushies are, a lightsabre for Yoda would be nice too 🙂

      2. Thank you so much. I am trying to type up a pattern for one of my characters to get posted. I’m excited about this one. I hope everyone likes it.

  19. Awesome, waiting in anticipation then ^^ Finished Yoda the other night and this is how he turned out: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/LadyJane25/yoda . It’ll probably be my nicest project I’ll ever make with all the details haha, Ty again 😉

  20. I just finished the head but am stumped. Probably a dumb question, but do you stuff the head as you do the decreases? The hole is quite small when finished! lol

    1. haha, there is no such thing as a dumb question. Yes, I do stuff the head as I decrease. I don’t ever remember to type it into the pattern because I just stuff it, and move on. Hope he is turing out great.

      1. Thanks so much! I am loving him already!

  21. hi shelly..thank you so much for the great pattern of yoda..and this is my version of yoda..

  22. Thank you so much after I completed myy first one my husband showed it to all of his friends no I am making a total of 5 it is a great pattern thank you so much!!!

  23. Hi Shelly,
Not getting much sleep since I found this! I am having issues with the smaller pieces,I think the yarn I’m using is too thick! I was having issues with the ears and fingers.
So far, when I get frustrated – I move on to the bigger pieces. I can’t wait to finish and assemble but am I the only one with issues on the ears and fingers/toes?

  24. where can I find the video for the tutorial for putting his head together?

  25. I am crocheting Yoda & want to know where to find the tutorial for putting his head/face together.

  26. Yoda pattern was excellent – took longer – was much larger and cost more than I expected, but also much better than I expected too! Video was really helpful too. What a character – I will be starting another soon. Thank you I am a big fan.

  27. Thank You so much for the pattern! You can find my Yoda at arrosambmango.blogspot.com
    Everybody loves it!!!

  29. Excellent pattern! My father in law is turning 60 this year and is known affectionately as Yoda so this is a must for me. I found this via the web but if it hasn’t happened already I really suggest a Ravelry posting. This is the best pattern I’ve found all round.

  30. I am so glad you had the video for the head. I had NO issues with it. (I watched the video then made the head and connected everything.) What I need to know, where exactly do I see the pics of where you attach the arms, sleeves, legs, feet, fingers, toes, pants etc. I have been crocheting for many years, but would like to see exactly how you put this together. I do LOVE it!!! Might I suggest that you incorporate the pants color and sleeve color with the arms/legs and delete some of the crochet time?… I plan to make another of these, and will attempt it, If I can succeed, I will let you know 🙂 May the force be with you in more of your patters 🙂 And again, THANK YOU. He is really cute… so far

  31. Took me longer than I thought, but Yoda is finally finished and he looks fantastic. Can’t thank you enough for the pattern. I can’t imagine how you figured out how to get all of those little bits to come together to make such an impressive Yoda head!

I am sure that my grandsons are going to go crazy when they see him and love him. Now I have a problem though because I have to find another figure to make (preferably Star Wars again) that looks as impressive as Yoda does and so far I haven’t come across one.

Thanks again Shelly for such an awesome pattern.

  32. Excelente patrón!!! Muchas Gracias

  33. Thank you so much for a wonderful pattern and video. I have made him for my gransdon who is mad about Star Wars and in particular Yoda. You can find him at http:/ravelry.com/projects/tiddy2/yoda

Because he has been given as a toy, rather that just placing a layer of filling for his hair my husband suggested using a fine crochet hook and pulling fine wisps of filling through some of the holes over his head. It worked very well.

  34. Just curious if there was other instruction to put the yoda together the video doesnt want to work for me

    1. Recently updated the link on the site. Here it is again. https://youtu.be/5iDBHVMF9cE

  35. I’m hoping your still available to ask questions. Noticed this was posted 4 yrs ago. Do I do a chain 1 when I turn the project?

    1. Yes, whenever you are working on anything not done in the round.

  36. i am need of directions for assembly. i have watched the video for placing all the pieces on the head. now i need directions for putting the remainder of yoda together. please help

  37. Hi! Thank you for the wonderful pattern! I’ve made almost all the parts and wanted to watch the assembly video for the face but the link doesn’t seem to be working. I searched YouTube but couldn’t find it… Is it still available?

    1. https://youtu.be/5iDBHVMF9cE

I also went ahead and updated the link that was on the site. For some reason it got messed up.

  38. I love this pattern and I’m making for my hubby but I can’t find the pattern for the eyes themselves. Can you help

    1. The eyes are just felt material.

  39. Hey Shelly,

Thank you very much for sharing this lovely pattern! I`ve crochet Yoda for my 9-year old nefew, and he was thrilled!

I would like to show you my version of Yoda, but I don`t know how to insert a picture here…

    Greeting from Belgium,
    Kelly

    1. I’m glad you love Yoda, you can go to the Facebook page and upload a picture. I would love to see it.

  40. I just wanted to say about a year ago now I made this for a friend as a gift and I even made a light saber to go with it and he loved it a lot. I even have a picture with him and the yoda with light saber. if you would like to see the cool pic just let me know how to send one. Thanks

  41. I can not figure out which way the arms/legs are attached? Open ends fastened to body or closed end?

    1. Open ends are attached to the body. Great question!
