Messy Bun Hat

I have noticed the big trend towards Messy Bun Hats and had to make my own chunkier version.  I used Loops & Threads Charisma yarn and a J hook to make this awesome hat.I like it alot more than my thinner versions I have made. I hope you enjoy as well.

Brim of Hat

Leave a long starting yarn to sew pieces together at the end.
Row 1: Ch 7, hdc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across, turn (6)
Row 2: Ch 1, working in BACK LOOPS only – hdc in each stitch across, turn (6)
Rows 3-37: continue working in back loops only, hdc in each stich across (6)

You have now finished the hat brim, turn your work so that you are working on the ends of the rows you just created.
Round 1: Ch 1, *1 sc in the end of the first row, sc in the next row* and repeat across all the rows. sc into the foundation chain after the last row, bring the ends together and join in the first sc (57) This is where the brim actually becomes attached to start looking like a hat.
Round 2: Working in BACK LOOPS for this round only – Ch 2, dc in same stitch and in each stitch around, join in first dc (57).

You may want to check your stitch count here to make sure you have 57 stitches.
Round 3: chain 2, *dc in each stitch* around (57)

Round 4-7: repeat round 3 (57)
Round 8: Ch 2, sc in first stitch, *dc2tog, dc in next 6 stitches* repeat from * around, join (50)
Round 9: Ch 2, *dc2tog, dc in next 3 stitches* repeat around, join (40)
Round 10: Ch 2, *dc2tog, dc in next 2 stitches* repeat around, join (30)
Round 11: Ch 2, *dc2tog, dc in next stitch* repeat around, join (20)

F/o.
Use your starting tail to sew the ends of your brim together. Make sure to weave in all ends and enjoy!
