From the beginnning of my amigurumi making, there have been certain people that Beau has really wanted. Some of them are still definitely on the wait list, but this summer I agreed to attempt to make Link from the Legend of Zelda. Since we started playing Twilight Princess(GCN version), he of course wanted him to look that way. Unfortunately this meant that I had to be very creative and make almost all of the pattern myself. Starting with a generic body, I worked on it in spurts. All the while not really knowing if it was going to happen or not. But, by the beginning of September, Link was coming together very nicely. I could do all of the bodily parts of Link in crochet, but there are just some things that define Link that crochet did not do justice(ie. the master sword, hyrulian shield). So, Beau offered to attempt to sculpt them out of clay. These are his first attempts doing so, and I think he did an AMAZING job. He made the master sword, hyrulian shield, his arm gauntlet, a bomb, the gale boomerang and the hero’s bow with an arrow of light. He has plans to make some other ones later, but for the moment is happy to rest and just enjoy the finished project.

Assembly:
This is a very difficult part to explain, so your best bet would be to look at the pictures for the assembly to see how it all is attached.
I attached arms, legs and body together to create the main frame of Link. I tied a yarn of string around his midsection to give him more of a shape because I didn’t create a leaner shape.
I then started on his tunic attaching the sleeves onto his tunic. Felt was then attached and then began sliding it over his body and arms. I then tied the sides off with a piece of string weaving into x shapes.(which isn’t really visible).
I then attached all of the belts to the tunic on the body, so i could see where they would exactly be placed.
The hair is DMC 25 thread…I just cut it in strands and took a needle and sewed it onto the head letting it dangle in place. It is not meant to be played with so it would have to be made much sturdier if allowing it to be played with so hair doesn’t fall out.
Head and Hands were attached last, along with the boots to make him more stable.
