It’s been awhile to say the least. Like a lot of people, I caught the Pokémon fever again after playing some Pokémon GO.  I thought to get my start back into making patterns I would pick a Pokémon that was fairly easy to make but that I also like.  Cacturne just has that cool vibe to him and was super straightforward to make and I have a “thing” for cacti.  So here is Cacturne, National Pokedex #332 all the way from the Hoenn region.

Yoshi (Amiibo sized)

It has been awhile since I’ve posted a pattern. Alot has happened in my personal life so crocheting original patterns had to take a backseat.  I had a baby, who is now 10 months old.  He is in love with the mario character Yoshi, so much so that he has tried to chew up my Yarn Yoshi Amiibo for Yoshi’s Wooly World game.  In an attempt to save the yarn yoshi (he has electronics in him) I made this Yoshi.  I was nervous at first about how my little one would respond to it, but he is in love with him.  Everyday he runs to where Yoshi sits and “requests” that we pick him up so he can grab the Yoshi (Sometimes multiple times in a span of 2 or 3 minutes).  It’s the perfect size for his little hands, and the nose must be pretty tasty because he chews on it fairly frequently.  I’m thinking about making a whole set of mario characters in this style for him.

My husband published a book!

Some of you may have read that my husband is a writer in his spare time and has been trying to get a book published.   Last year, a book he entered in the 2013-2014 CrossBooks Writing Contest won first place.  He received a free publishing package and the book went live late last month!  It is available online (,,, Barnes&, and a host of international sites) and by request at major bookstores (BooksAMillion and Barnes&Noble).  He has been crazy busy lately trying to get things organized for a newspaper article and a book signing.  The article came out last Friday in our local newspaper and the book signing’s flyer is above.  With all this going on, he just finished up his Master’s Degree in Creative Writing while helping me prep the house for our new addition coming in March.  Yeah…lots of changes headed our way!  We are excited to see what the rest of the year brings us (including some baby crochet patterns…hopefully).

It has been awhile since I’ve posted anything new.  I’ve made a few projects but didn’t write down the patterns.  Since my husband and I are expecting our first baby in March, I thought I needed to post this before my time will be all focused on my little one.  I’ve been wanting to make Typhlosion for awhile now, my husband has been after me for years, but I never was motivated enough to finish him.  After several beginnings of new patterns, I finally finished this one of my Christmas break from teaching.  The flames are made by painting fiberfill various colors (red, yellow, and orange) and hot gluing them together and gluing them to the body.  I took a pair of scissors and shaped the fiberfill how I wanted the flames to look.

A Huge Favor

Hey everyone, my husband (Beau, my felter and maker of sculpey things) is in need of your help.  He is trying to collect some data for a paper in one of his creative writing classes.  The more people that complete it, the better.  It is a 7 question survey and will take about 5 minutes to complete.  Your help would be appreciated.  Here is the link:
