Now that summer is finally here and the stress of my fourth year in my five year program has passed I found myself able to start a few projects that have been on my to-do-list since I started making my own patterns. One of them is my most recent pattern, Captain Jack Sparrow! He wasn’t the easiest one to make, and he has a ton of little details, but in the end he was definitely worth making and I think he turned out great. It can’t hurt either that I finished him in time for the new film to come out (which is pretty good I must say). The pattern and pictures are below, but if you need any additional help feel free to send me a message. If you’re a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean I’d definitely suggest trying him, ever since I finished him I’ve had the theme song stuck in my head.

Row 1: attach in the 5th sc from non worked side. Sc 5. Should be at the end. And starting up the other side of the shoulder of the shirt.

Over shoulder Belt
Chain 41, sc in 2nd chain from hook and across (40)

Assembly:
Attach pants to bottom of chest. Sew neck closed to form a ring and attach to top of chest. Attach head to neck.
Attach boots to leg and then attach boot flap after leg is attached.
Place arms however you like on the body. Place shirt on him.
Attach belts overtop of shirt.
Sew on hair to head and felt accordingly. I used thread and actual yarn to make dreads in his hair.

This is absolutely amazing! Thanks so much for sharing it! I do have a question though. I have finished crocheting and attaching the pieces together, so I’m going to work on the shirt next. Do you have any advice on how to make it? I’ve never made anything like this before. Thanks so much!
Is this for the white shirt? blue shirt?
If for the white shirt you can use felt or fabric you have around and I started by first making a sleeveless top. I have never sewn before and it was alot of trial and error with the material. After making the sleeveless top I then attached the sleeves by cutting out a rectangle and taking a needle and sewing around the arm. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help with that part, because I don’t know any sewing terms. I think with felt you wouldn’t be able to get as much movement out of the sleeves, however I think it could make a great sleeveless top that you can then add the sleeves too later.
If this doesn’t help, or I just didn’t make any sense in my blabbering, just leave a message and I can try something different. 🙂

The dreads are made by doing as many chains as necessary to make it the length you prefere. The vest is sewn together with your average needle and yarn. I’m not sure of the name of the stitch though. Thanks for making him!

I love Jack Sparrow and your designs. I have a problem with the boots in “Round 7” the total for me comes to (5) not (8). Please help!!! My Grandson loves POTC, Star Wars and Mario Bros. So far, I have made Yoda and Mario and I am not sure of what to do next. My Granddaughter is Jealous!!! Do you have any patterns for her.

you should have 8,
single crochet 2, then double crochet 4, and then single crochet 2 more… Hope that helps, sometimes I think a dc is a decrease and it can mess up the whole pattern.
I’m actually making a yoda pattern of my own right now…but other than that I don’t have many more patterns on the horizon.

I first made a cap, I can’t remember now, but with the small thread, I started with a magic ring of 6, expanding out in a circle, to fit on his head, so his hair would look fuller. Then I piece by piece sewed on hair into the cap left an equal length of thread on each side, no tying or nothing, since I knew it would be sitting on a shelf. It took a couple hours to do the whole head this way.
I was so surprise to see capt. jack sparrow. I m making for my daughter who just adores him and kjphnny depp. I hope you dont mind, I put pipe cleaners in the arms and legs to make bendable.thank you for your hard work and giving it gtee. a fellow crocheter,joanie

I have enjoyed mking Captain Jack Sparrow, but I just do not see the pants crochet pattern. Please help me.
The legs part in the pattern is the pants, you just crochet them the color you want the pants to be. The boots then directly attach to the bottom of the leg. Hope that helps. 🙂
