For several months now I’ve been asked by my fiancé (and amigurumi felter) Beau to make a couple of our favorite Pokemon: Umbreon and Espeon. But without a pattern those projects got pushed to the back of the queue in favor of others.
Recently, another crocheter whose patterns are very good, and whom I’ve made amigurumis from before, posted her own pattern for Umbreon. A week later we had our own Umbreon and were pretty pleased. That is until I suggested to Beau that it might be possible for me to alter her pattern for Umbreon a little to make Espeon. Since Espeon is his favorite Pokemon, he immediately jumped on board for that idea and I’m pleased to say I think Espeon turned out very well. His ears, whiskers, and tail are all my own design, while the body is the same as Umbreon’s. We finished felting it earlier today and even tried to make it look more authentic by making the jewel on its forehead out of a dab of hot glue which we then painted to match Espeon’s.
To help make the tail more posable and like Umbreon’s from pictures we’re going to put a thin wire inside it. Beau is very happy with it and hopefully Wolfdreamer (the other crocheter) will be proud of the alterations as well.
These pictures aren’t the best, but it is the best I can do at night.
Body, Head, Legs
After looking around online for an Espeon pattern, I came across Wolfdreamers’ Umbreon she created. I realized that with a few adjustments to her pattern I could make Espeon. I give her full credit for the body, and after asking permission from her, I am linking to her blog so that you can make the body part to go with the rest.

Round 2: * sc in each sc* around (4)
Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Round 2-32: *sc in each sc* around (6)
To create added piece to make the Y
Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Round 2-10: *sc in each sc* around (6)
Attach legs and head to body using yarn or string that is close to the color.
Sew ears on head making sure that they lean so they get the angle Espeons ears have.
Whisker: Attach the small whisker to the larger whisker about round 5 or 6. Sew whiskers underneath ears
Tail: Attach small part of the tail to the larger around round 11 (it may vary, just make sure that it creates a nice even Y when done)
Create the face and ears with felt (we just hot glue it, but it can be sewn on with thread that is the same color)
The red spot on his forehead is created by making a dollop of hot glue on a piece of paper and painting it red. It could also be crocheted in a magic ring with 3 or 4 sc, around.
Espeon and Pokemon are copyright of Nintendo.

THANK YOU! Have added this to my pattern collection, I have three people that want me to crochet Pokemon for them (one actually wants EVERY one…. NOT gonna happen, kiddo!— maybe…).
Between you and Wolfdreamer (who is amazing!!!) I just might get all those patterns!
And THANK YOU for sharing it at my price range! LOL
My fiance is the same way, he wants one of every pokemon, but the number of pokemon keep growing and my hands can’t work fast enough. I also agree, Wolfdreamer does a great job on all of her pokemon and I have made quite a few of them, and FREE is always the best price for anything. LOL
Jessie from team rocket, in that hot tank top is the only reason I like pokemon. Oh that and my little Pikachu stuffed toy!
I love this pattern, but I wish it was a bit printer-friendly as I can’t carry my computer with my project. lol
I have the same issue with other sites. What I normally do is highlight all the part I want and paste it into a word document and then print it out. Hope that helps!
just copy and paste everything on to a word doc. and then print it
[…] I had one long week of school and no time to do my own patterns, but still needed a way to relax. Since I already had the right color, I decided it was time for espeon, since I had found a pattern which can be found here: https://shedko247.wordpress.com/2010/08/17/espeon/ […]
This is amazing! : D
Espeon is my fave pokemon and this gives me motivation to get started on crocheting soon. Crocheting looks hard though..I’m not sure on what my first project should be xD
This pattern is adorable, I’ve added it to the new site http://www.crochetatplay.com A new site to find 100s of free crochet patterns from all over the web. Updated every Wednesday and Saturday nights! If for some reason you do not wish to have your pattern linked up please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks! Megan
Thanks to these two patterns, I can now make the perfect valentines gift for my boyfriend…. a “kissing” Umbreon and Espeon :3 I can’t wait to see his face when I give them to him!
